I’m sure like everyone else out there making a ton of cold, hard cash from blogging, you’re keen to have a slice of the pie. Blogging is a painstaking, laborious job but has its rewards: just ask Linda Ikeji and many others who’re making a living from blogging.
Apparently, advertisers are now checking out your Alexa score to determine if you’re driving enough traffic to your site so they know if it’s worthwhile for them.
To increase traffic to your blog and thus reduce your Alexa number, these are some of the things you must do:
1. Regular Blog Updates
This is probably the most important factor in ensuring your blog is moving in the right direction – which is – towards a 100,000 Alexa score – that is, if it isn’t there already. Blog as often as 3 to 4 times a week for starters. Ideally, you should aim to put something out there every day. That’s what the popular – not necessarily the best – bloggers do.
2. Comments and Backlinks
Commenting on other blogs – especially in your niche – with good traffic, and a link back to your blog will help you build more links from these blogs because backlinks are a very important metric that Alexa utilises in order to score your site.
3. Qualitative Reportage
Like begets like and that is sooo true in the blogosphere. I find that I appeal to a certain ‘clientele’. Remember that not everyone will ‘dig’ your writing; that’s okay. Don’t write to please everyone: it’s simply impossible. Be true to who you are and you’ll attract people who resonate with you. That’s more link-juice for you right there 🙂
4. Sharing is Caring
Sharing your posts on social networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and the others, is a potent way of bringing down your 7 or 8 figure Alexa score to 6 or even 5 figures. It’s doable. Mine is improving; yours can too if you do it right.
Until next time.
